  Kate McCarty

Kate is a Consultant at Sterling Associates. She joined the firm in Fall 2017, bringing more than a decade of fundraising and nonprofit experience to the team.

Kate began her development career at Pink Ribbons Project, where she coordinated outreach programs and campaigns in support of the organization’s mission. She then transitioned to Goodwill Industries of Houston, where she was the Manager of Development and Special Events. In this role, she identified and cultivated prospective donors, led planned giving projects, organized direct mail campaigns and fund drives, was responsible for the organization’s donor database, and oversaw fundraising events.

Most recently, Kate served as Associate Director of Trusts, Estates, and Gift Planning at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she managed a portfolio of more than 100 planned giving donor prospects and raised more than $12 million in bequests and other planned gifts. 

Kate earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Southwestern University and a Certificate of Charitable Financial Planning from Texas Tech University. She and her husband Russell live in the Heights with their son.
